Essential pieces to create the Mod Look

posted by Jo Frances on January 26, 2011 9:37 am

The 60s mod style is a natural trend for the over 40 woman to follow because most of the elements are so slimming and easy to wear. Black pants and black tights are already wardrobe staples---add a few geometric prints, some bold colors---and voila! Instant style.

Spring 2011 Trends: Denim

posted by Jo Frances on December 29, 2010 11:20 am

Denim may not be a trend---until it's been upgraded as something more than jeans material.  This fabric has been reworked into trousers, jackets and skirts, and chambray made a strong showing in the Spring collections.

Also new this season were all-denim outfits, a trend that is tricky to carry off, and one perhaps best left to professionals.

Anyway, the higher rise, fuller leg cuts that are available at all price points will make wearing jeans denim seem new again.

Spring 2011 Trends: Halter tops

posted by Jo Frances on December 20, 2010 10:56 pm

The 70s are back in a big way this Spring:  maxi dresses, full cut trousers...and halter tops.  This style is a good way to show a little bit of skin, and is great for an evening look.  For the over 40 woman who is fuller on top, a strapless support bra is a must.   Keep accessories simple and minimal----a bracelet is all you would need to complete this look.
