When it comes to dressing to hide figure flaws (or what I call camoflauge dressing), the most common solution is to wear a long top over a fitted bottom. This solution not only works, but is the easiest to shop for. Long jackets, tunics, and leggings/skinny jeans/fitted pants can be found in every price range.
What I like about this dress is that it turns that proportion upside down. Here, the top is fitted and the bottom part is loose. Yet, it still works because the fitted part of the skirt hits a little above the waist (which is the slimmest part). I also like this cut because it highlights the upper part of a woman's body.
Here are a few dresses to consider; but this look can easily be created with a slim fit striped tee shirt tucked into a full, high waisted skirt.

I am always looking for new ways to wear denim, and Katie Holmes seems to come up with outfits that are stylish but not too trendy. (Which means something I can wear in my real, non-celebrity, non-Mrs. Cruise life...) Here she uses one of my favorite color combinations: denim blue and orange. For the look for less, the key elements are high waisted flare jeans and a slim fitting chambray shirt.

The Matrix sunglasses and severe hairstyle may not work for the rest of us, but the proportions do! A softer jacket in black, paired with a loose, sheer, white blouse is the perfect foil to cropped pants in a unique color.
