I first started seeng these pants in the gym. Long, black, form fitting, stretch pants that looked great on the young and skinny, and hid a multitude of flaws on everyone else.
Then, they became street wear with $90 price tags. At first, I couldn't see what the fuss was about: $90 for a pair of leggings I could get for $15?
The difference is in the sheerness and weight of the fabric. Spend less (or buy a poor-qualty one) and you'll look like you're wearing tights. But the right kind flatters and holds you in like a lightweight pair of Spanx, is thick enough to actually look like pants and is comfortable to boot. The gold standard, of course, are the Lululemon yoga pants, but there's been a backlog of orders after the company had to switch manufacturers when it was discovered that the pants were see-through. I also like these DKNY pants because they seem more like pants than gym wear, and of course, the DKNY sizing works well for those of us not interested in Junior fits.
