In looking through the Fall 2011 runway pictures, I was struck by the contrast in the following two pictures. Both are looks from designers I admire (although I guess I can kiss off any free Balceniaga bags coming in the mail now) so it isn't a matter of liking one designer over another.
What struck me was how each of these outfits consist of the same elements and the same color palette: a tunic top, slim pants and a cropped jacket/vest, and obviously both are expensively made. Yet, the one on the right looks so much better than the one on the left. It's a matter of fit, proportion, styling and of course personal taste. This is something that each woman has to decide for herself---I'm sure many people like the first outfit! Which got me thinking about how important it is to develop and trust your own style, and how much easier it is now that I am over 40 to do just that...
