At best, I would describe myself as an urban gardener. If, by "garden" you mean a patch of backyard that has a hardy bunch of fruit trees and some random bushes that flower despite my neglect. But I still need gardening shoes! My first pair were clogs, which I found useless---they left my heels exposed, and dirt got into the shoes anyway. So now I prefer a mule or boot style. I also found that the hour or so I'm outside doesn't necessitate an expensive purchase. Cheap and plastic will do just fine, especially when it comes in a fun print like this.
